I’ve never really minded Derek Jeter. I mean, in the end he turned out to have a better career than Nomar Garciaparra. But I stand by every thing I said about Jeter in a drunken stopper in ought one. Nomar at his best was still better than Jeter at his best. Period.
But as a player he’s never really given me a reason to hate him. He’s not LeBron or Sidney Crosby or one of those idiots you love to hate. He’s kind of like Peyton Manning with more championships. He was there for a long time. He played for the bad guys. He tore shit up. He won championships. I don’t hate Jeter. I was just always loyal to my boy Nomaaaahhh.
With that said I wanna throw up with what I’m watching right now. This All-Star Game has quickly turned into the Derek Jeter blow-a-thon. The money shot came when this “Respect” commercial was aired:
Look, I can appreciate the greatness of Derek Jeter’s career. But I draw the line with all this bullshit he’s getting. The man did his job every day and he was handsomely rewarded for it with tons of cash and every woman who has ever stepped foot in New York. That’s something we tip our cap to now? Newsflash – when you’re being paid millions of dollars to play a game you’re POSED-A come to work every day and do your job!! Now we’re tipping our cap to players for honoring their contracts? You low expectation mother fuckers!!!
All of a sudden Red Sox fans are coming out of the woodwork all over Twitter and Facebook and they’re talking about Jeter being a “class act”. Seriously, go on Twitter right now and search for “Jeter class act red sox.” Watch what comes up. All types of feel good bullshit. Where were all these people 10-12 years ago? They were up at UMass yelling “Jeter swallows” and “Nomaahhhs bettaaahhhh.”
So what caused the change? Two words: A-Rod. Ought four was the year everything changed. A-Rod played a little just the tip with the Red Sox before going over to the Bronx. His dooshnozzelry immediately made Jeter a forgotten man as far as Red Sox fans were considered. Because A-Rod is a professional nudnik. He’s just so fucking easy to hate.
So all of a sudden Jeter looked like a God damn altar boy, and now he’s some folk hero for not being a professional asshat like A-Rod. So when Jeter came up to bat the hero of the day stepped up and started chanting “overrated”, apparently directly next to a microphone:
It was nice of Wain-o to purposely give DJ a meatball to hit there. That’s not being a biased Red Sox fan either. He admitted to it afterwards. Luckily the Red Sox-Jeter fan club came to his rescue though. Check out the Jeter orgy on social media, particularly from the Massholesports Facebook page, which is the biggest collection of Boston morons you will ever encounter. This is the I love Jonny Gomes fan club at it’s worst:
Yea, what a looser!! Loosest dude in the whole stadium. Kicking someone out for yelling “overrated” seems like a reasonable thing to do. Because God knows you can’t call Jeter overrated on his big night!! That’s blasphemy.
Newsflash – you’re not supposed to do PED’s or get in trouble with the law. Not getting busted for those things doesn’t make Jeter a class act and I could give a fuck less if he’s the “captain” of the team. Making someone a captain is something meaningless we give high school kids to make themselves feel special when they’re seniors. And what makes us so sure he didn’t do steroids? As far as I’m concerned they were all dues paying members of a union that refused steroid testing for years. They’re all guilty and I could give a shit less if they did do it.
Killer cliche right there. He played the game the right way? What does that even mean? He didn’t play with his uniform inside out? He didn’t moon the opposing team after hitting a home run? He went out there, played shortstop, hit the ball around, and banged every woman with a pulse in Manhattan. Apparently that makes him a class act.
First of all thank God Kenny P established that he’s a Red Sox fan till the day he dies, because for a moment there I thought this was just a 20 year commitment. But this whole “loyalty” thing is absolutely hilarious too. LOL. How hard is it to be loyal to the Yankees? You know how much he’s made in his life with the Yankees? $265,159,364!! That’s the second most ANY player has made in a lifetime in the history of MLB!! So yea, I’m sure it’s really fucking hard to be loyal to a team that’s paying you more than a quarter of a billion dollars. In 2010 he was paid $33 million and repaid the Yankees by hitting .270 with 10 home runs and 67 RBI. What a loyal guy!!
Oh and another thing, Jeter has always played on the team with more resources than every other team in MLB. He played for an owner who demanded accountability and put together teams that were built to win. That’s exactly what the Yankees did. So why the hell would he not be loyal to the Yankees? Here’s a question – would Jeter be so loyal if he spent his career in Kansas City? Would he be content with making a quarter of what he did in New York and always playing on a losing team? Yea, I’m sure that would’ve gone over well.
And if Jeter did it the right way then who did it the wrong way? Obviously it’s easy to hate villains like Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens. But I’ve got some people telling me David Ortiz. Is Papi a whiny beyoch sometimes? Oh yea. One of the worst. But guess what? Unlike Jeter, Papi plays for a bunch of chiselers who give him one year contracts no matter how many cycles of steroids he promises to take. He’s made less than half of what Jeter’s made in his career, despite wining three rings and literally putting the Red Sox on his back during all three of em. Plus he’s a DH, so he has every right to whine when some idiot scorer sheists him by calling a hit an error. As a DH he gets paid based on how many hits he gets. If he had guaranteed $30 million contracts like Jeter we’d probably here from him a lot less.
Here’s some more crap that will make you wanna puke:
Did I miss something? Did Derek Jeter cure cancer? Did Derek Jeter part the Red Sea? Did he bring peace to the Middle East? I haven’t seen this much love given to someone for doing absolutely nothing since President Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. Get your shit together Red Sox fans.
